Tasmania Scholarships Program

The University of Tasmania is committed to rewarding excellence and improving access to higher education. Our Scholarships Program provides over 900 awards to the value of almost $7 million. The program reflects the tremendous support we receive from individuals, government and business. It provides valuable financial support, while enhancing our students' university experience by providing networking and career opportunities.

The Tasmania Scholarships Program supports the University’s commitment to offer students an exemplary learning environment. The program provides students with significant financial and academic support to study at the University of Tasmania at a time they most need it. Awards are offered in a wide range of disciplines to students studying at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels.

The scholarship supporters are investing in the future of our students and their generosity makes studying a reality and a potential life changing experience. With enrolment numbers increasing each year the need for further scholarships is still a vital one. Scholarships make a difference for students moving to study, for families struggling with a single income, in attracting the brightest Tasmanian students and the most deserving achievers.

Some of the current scholars have provided additional insight into the difference that a scholarship can make;

"The Alumni Appeal Scholarship allowed me to complete a Bachelor of Arts and Science combined, majoring in International Relations and Biochemistry. After graduating I received the Menzies Research Institute / Helene Matterson Medical Research Scholarship for Honours in Medical Research. I am now completing my Honours, researching host genetic factors involved in resistance to Malaria."

"I am so thankful for the scholarship I was offered to complete my Honours degree. Without the generosity of Australia Post I would not have been able to afford another year of study, and I have learnt so much this year. I would encourage everyone to apply for a scholarship - I didn't expect to be successful but still applied, and am now about to finish my second degree!"
