Northern Integrated Transport Plan

The existing Northern Integrated Transport Plan (NITP) was completed in 2003. Major changes have since occurred in the region and in the transport sector at the national, state and regional level, and the Plan requires updating to reflect these changes.

DIER is working with the eight member councils through Northern Tasmania Development (NTD) to review the existing NITP, building on the significant work already undertaken on both the transport sector and the Northern Region, including:

Development of the Plan is overseen by a Steering Committee including State and Local Governemnt representatives.  The Terms of Reference and Minutes from their meetings are available below:

In September 2012, a strategies workshop was conducted seeking input from industry stakeholders for the development of regional transport goals and strategies. The results of this workshop are contained in the document below:

"These goals and strategies provided the context for an 'actions development' workshop, involving the Tasmanian Government and the Northern Councils, conducted in December 2012. The actions resulting from this workshop will be included in the Draft Northern Integrated Transport Plan - to be released for consultation March 2013."
