Capital Works Program

Launceston General Hospital

A series of submissions for capital funding to progress service initiatives at the Launceston Health Precinct has resulted in the availability of $92.2m from State and Commonwealth sources.

In addition, the University of Tasmania has agreed to provide an additional $4.5m to invest in an integrated Medical and Health Education Unit to be incorporated into the planned Integrated Care Centre. This brings the total of available funds to $96.7m.

The funds will be utilised to undertake a program of works that will provide the Launceston Health Precinct with the physical capacity to meet increasing demand in a cost-effective manner and will address deficiencies in the current infrastructure. Individual projects will be progressed as part of a coordinated site program managed under an appropriate governance model.

This website will be used to provide information on the progress of the development and provide opportunities for consultation and feedback.
