Road Closures, Road Works and Delays

Tas Fire Service will be undertaking an environmental burn for DIER beside the Brighton Bypass between Tea Tree Rd and Pontville (near the Tea Tree Golf Club) between Monday 6 May and Friday 10 May (the exact date will depend on suitable wind conditions).

The burn will encourage re-growth of native species.

Rockfall Netting - Lyell Highway at Gormanston Hill
Tuesday 30th April - 3 weeks

Road works to install rockfall netting will commence on the Lyell Hwy at Gormanston Hill on Tuesday 30th April 2013.  Installation will continue for approximately 3 weeks so that it is completed before the onset of winter.

The works are part of DIER?s ongoing road maintenance and will involve the installation of rock bolts and rockfall netting using a crane and an elevating work platform. 
While the works are being undertaken traffic will be restricted to one lane under traffic control and delays can be expected.

Kings Bridge - Bridge Joint Replacement

Delays are expected on Bridge Road / Trevallyn Road due to bridge joint replacement work on Kings Bridge.  The project is necessary bridge maintenance works to improve the overall safety of the bridge.

Works are programmed for 14 and 15 May 2013 and will be completed at night, in accordance with an approved traffic plan.  Work will be weather dependant and variable message boards in the area will provide advance notice of the exact dates that work will be completed.

Short delays can be expected in the vicinity of the road works.  Your safety is important so please drive with care and obey the traffic signs and other directions.

 

Forth Road Bridge and Off Ramp

Delays are expected on the Bass Highway Ulverstone at the end of May 2013 due to bridge joint replacement work on the Forth Road Bridge and Off-ramp. The project is necessary bridge maintenance works to improve the overall safety of the bridge and off-ramp.

Works are programmed for 31 May 2013 and will be completed in 1 night, in accordance with an approved traffic plan. The bridge will be closed on the night of works from 6:30pm to 6:30am. All vehicles, including High Productivity/High Mass Limit vehicles will be diverted from the Bass Highway via Westella Drive to Ulverstone. 

Access to Ulverstone from the West will remain unaffected.  Works will be weather dependant and variable notice boards in the area will provide advance notice of the exact dates that work will be completed.

Statewide Bridge Joint Replacement Program

36 of the State's bridges are being refurbished as part of a $1.2m State Government funded program. These include nine bridges in the North, 14 in the South and 13 in the North-West.

The bridge upgrades are being undertaken by Downer EDI Pty Ltd and commence on 3 April 2013 until the end of June, weather permitting.

Below is a program of scheduled work dates.  Variable message boards in the vicinity of works will have the latest information about the bridge works for motorists.

 

Victoria Bridge

Delays are expected on Tamar Street / Invermay Road during mid May 2013 due to bridge joint replacement work on Victoria Bridge and Off-ramp.  The project is necessary bridge maintenance works to improve the overall safety of the bridge.

Works are programmed for 16/17 May, 19/20/21/22 May 2013 and will be completed over a period of approximately 6 nights, in accordance with an approved traffic plan.  The bridge will be reduced to one lane on the nights of works from 6:30pm to 6:30am.  Work will be weather dependant and variable message boards in the area will provide advance notice of the exact dates that work will be completed.
