Racing Services Tasmania

Responsible for stewardship, registration, licensing, integrity controls and bookmaker activities covering all three codes of racing in Tasmania - thoroughbred, harness and greyhound.  RST is a division of DIER and services the Tasmanian racing industry from its offices in Launceston. 
  

Licences and registrations

Administer licensing of trainers, drivers, riders and other persons engaged in horse and greyhound racing. Process registration details for thoroughbred and harness horses and greyhounds as required by the Rules of Racing. 
   

   

Integrity controls

Employ stewards to supervise the running of race meetings and the general racing operations of licensed industry personnel. Monitor compliance with the requirements of the Racing and Gaming Act. 
 


Regulation of bookmaker betting

Register bookmakers to operate on registered racecourses. Regulate and supervise bookmaker betting activities. 


Racing appeals

Provide administrative support to the Tasmanian Racing Appeal Board. 
 


Racing industry training

Supervise, coordinate and set standards in respect of the training of apprentice jockeys, junior drivers and other industry personnel.
