As anthropologists, historians and linguists are aware, historical documents, or unpublished sources, can contain important information on aspects of Pacific Islander and Australian Aboriginal cultures. Over three days, this workshop will explore the historical archives and the research techniques required to identify and interpret material relevant to kinship, land, social organisation and language.

Where do Livestock guardian Dogs go? Movement patterns of free-ranging Maremma Sheepdogs

Livestock guardian dogs (LGDs) are an increasingly popular method of predator control in Australia. LGDs with stock are often not fence trained and easily cross stock fences and are unrestricted in their activities. To investigate LGD movements, free-ranging Maremma sheepdogs were fitted with GPS tracking collars.

Changing faces and dynamics of rural poverty in Cambodia: Findings from participatory household financial analysis

Oxfam America's saving-led microfinance model was conceptualized as an alternative financial service for the rural poor who are underserved by formal financial institutions. However, it was found that the program mainly served the middle poor, but did not reach the poorest of the poor. Oxfam America investigated this.
