Forecasts and Alerts

The Bureau of Meteorology website provides a range of weather links that are useful to check before going fishing. For instance, you can look up the Tasmanian Forecast Areas Map and Coastal Waters Forecast for Tasmania, as well as check for road weather alerts, strong wind warnings, and small boating alerts.

Highland Conditions

You can check the current conditions at Arthurs Lake courtesy of Weathernow from Datacall. To get information that is less than 30 seconds old SMS "wn" (case sensitive) to 0428 446 539.

A number of other stations can now be called using the Weathernow service, see this pdf for details: weathernow sms service stations.

Arthurs Lake Webcam

A webcam has been set up at Pumphouse Bay, Arthurs Lake. This camera gives a view over Arthurs Lake to Brazendale Island, the Morass and beyond. The camera has been set up through a collaborative project between Anglers Alliance Tasmania and the Inland Fisheries Service.

Boating weather

You should check the long range weather forecast whilst planning your trip, and the short range forecast in the event of a weather alert. MAST has a Telephone Boating Weather Service covering the southern, northern, north-western and eastern regions of the State.

In the case of an emergency or boating accident, contact the Police, MAST and the State Emergency Service. Some useful contacts for weather and boating information are:
