Monitoring Activities

Periodic performance assessments are undertaken to monitor priority fisheries. The survey results are used in-conjunction with the stocking history of individual waters in addition to a review of catch rates, estimated harvest, angler satisfaction and creel survey data, to assist with on-going management of the fishery.

Fishery Performance Monitoring

The Service monitors the performance of specific fisheries and the fishery overall through angler surveys, scientific monitoring of fish stock and periodic fishery condition assessments. The angler surveys include the creel survey conducted by Inland Fisheries Inspectors and the Annual Postal Survey, which involves a written questionnaire. The results of these measures are combined to provide an overall fishery performance assessment.
