Libs’ Plan to grow the economy, create jobs: Infrastructure Tasmania

A majority Hodgman Liberal government will drive our economy and create jobs by investing strategically in productive infrastructure.

We will create a new, independent body called  Infrastructure Tasmania to manage and invest in vital infrastructure including rail, major roads, energy, ports, and water and sewerage.

Establishing Infrastructure Tasmania is an important part of our long-term plan for the future of Tasmania.

To build infrastructure and get things done you need a long-term plan and a strong, stable majority government.

This strategic approach to infrastructure is key to our long term Plan to grow the economy and create jobs.

We will make sure that each infrastructure dollar drives economic growth and creates jobs, not just through building the infrastructure but in the industries, businesses and communities that infrastructure serves.

Under Labor and the Greens, critical infrastructure across the State has been woefully neglected.

Infrastructure development has been ad-hoc and poorly planned.  Tasmanians are now paying the price for an incompetent maintenance program with key infrastructure, like our roads, in a state of disrepair.

Within 18 months of establishment, Infrastructure Tasmania will develop an Integrated Freight Strategy, putting Tasmania’s infrastructure, and the economy, back on the right track.

Within nine months, Infrastructure Tasmania will also undertake an audit of the State’s roads and maintenance arrangements.

Infrastructure Tasmania will work closely with Infrastructure Australia and adopt a similar strategic approach to infrastructure planning and prioritisation.

The creation of Infrastructure Tasmania will take the politics out of infrastructure development, with decisions made based on what’s in the long-term interests of Tasmania.

A majority Liberal Government will make sure that infrastructure development supports jobs, investment and growth.
