Railton Road Planned Closures

U3A Courses Invigorate Varied Learning

Following a public meeting in March to gauge interest in establishing a University of the Third Age (U3A) at Port Sorell, the response from the community has been overwhelming with 170 people signed up already.

Railton Road Closure

2 May 2014
DIER advise that Railton Main Road, between Railton and Latrobe, will be closed overnight for through-traffic in the vicinity of Caroline Creek Bridge to drive piles for the new bridge. The closures will be at night between 7pm and 6am on Monday 5 May, Tuesday 6 May and Wednesday 7 May. Native Plains Road will be sign-posted if drivers choose to use that as an alternative route. The relevant personnel within DIER have been unable to be contacted to clarify whether its contractor is required to cease pile driving at a particular time each evening. Any project enquiries should be directed to DIER's road project enquiries line on 1800 753 878 or 03 6166 3378.

FREE Project Planning and Grant Writing Workshops 2014

A series of FREE Project Planning and Grant Writing Workshops will be delivered across the North-West region from May through to August 2014. These workshops are designed to assist community groups to plan successful projects, identify a range of potential grant funding sources, and prepare grant submissions.

Recycling Bin Assessment

19 March 2014
To assist residents in understanding what should and should not be recycled, the Cradle Coast Waste Management Group will be carrying out random kerbside recycling bin assessments in our area over the coming weeks. This educational program will involve officers checking kerbside recycling bin contents at random and providing residents with helpful tips or recognition of great recycling practices by placing an informative sticker on the lid of the bin. Further information can be found by visiting or by contacting Council’s customer service team.
