Marine Environment

The Department is committed to the sustainable management of our marine environment to ensure its long-term ecological viability, and the protection of its biodiversity. Regular monitoring of the impact of marine farming activities is undertaken and numerous activities are underway to reduce the risks of introduced species. The Department has a long association with marine research through IMAS.

    This Strategy has been developed by the Marine and Marine Industries Council in response to concerns about the interaction between seals and the fishing and aquaculture industries in Tasmania.
